Online blogs such as Geekologie, Acquire and Uncrate lists some of the coolest items available, but they don't always report the same things. I wanted to start a thread where we can list some of our favourite "cool" things so we don't miss anything.

Some things that have recently caught my eye include:

Apple's Ipod Shuffle with polished stainless steel case. The current Shuffle is annoyingly small, but Apple does everything with such great quality that the size is not a detriment

I normally don't like Tag, but I must admit the Monaco V4 looks amazing:

MB&F's No. 3 "Starcruiser"

I've recently become a big fan of the "Mad Men" TV show, so Brooks Brothers putting out a LE suit for $1k is interesting.

Seeing that watches pics recall me a watch I had seen a few times ago.

I just love the look of it:

The Urwerk watches are really out of what is usually done, and specially this one, the UR-CC1 with her linear hour and minute display.

Just crazy, like the price which is said to be over 100K $ o_O

Nice watch. Crazy mechanical watches always seem to have high MSRP for some reason. The MB&F I mentioned above is $200-300k.

What is weird about this to me is that I couldn't find a single place in Tokyo that sold sunglasses! I spent a couple weeks there and after a couple days I realized that I couldn't find any sunglasses as I shopped around. Then I noticed that NO ONE else was wearing sunglasses.

I asked someone about why I never found sunglasses who mentioned that only the Gangsters wore sunglasses. Oh...that explains a lot! So here I am 6'3" 260lb linebacker looking guy running around in a full length leather duster and a different pair of sunglasses every day walking the streets in Tokyo apparently giving the impression of a gangster ;-).

No wonder I had lots of the callgirls and bouncers trying to get me to come into all their bars wherever I went. I was completely dressed in gangster attire in Japan! I was just twice the size of any of the locals!

I still never found a single pair of sunglasses for sale :-)

In most asian cultures, its impolite to not see the eyes of the persons you are talking with, perhaps its because of that.

that is also why slate iridium, ti clear, and light grey are common and almost popular lens options in Japan. I personally think they are too light, but then again, I am not one to like to have my eyes seen while wearing sunnies!!

I'm not quite a DIY subwoofer/speaker enthusiast. But I'll give kudos to anyone able to build and incorporate what is basically a 4'X5'X16" subwoofer.

I don't know what Mad Men is though.
It's one of the best shows on TV and available on Blu Ray. Subtle (and effective) in its humour and interesting in its subject matter. Highly recommended.

Speaking of speakers, I wonder how great $263k speakers sound?

Probably about 3% better than $20k speakers ... which sound probably 5% better than $1500 speakers.

did i miss anything with that self made speaker/wooferbox ? where are the actual components , you know , the woooofers ?

From what I recall, there are just 2 12" woofers that are installed just inside the opening in the box, pointing in different directions from each other. Pretty impressive output considering just 2 12" drivers ... though that's what the big box is for.

Nik, I think my mention of 4 foot x 5 foot x 16" is pretty darn close to the actual dimentions. Definitely something you would probably build into a wall, behind a screen, or use as a riser if you have 2 rows of home theater awesomeness.

So Bentley's getting a near $10k pair of skis made for the market. I don't know if it qualifies as "cool", but it's interesting at the very least.

3D movies are becoming a big thing again and HD3D TVs are coming out to the market pretty soon. I can't wait to get a HD3D TV in the next couple years but in the meantime, here's a 100" TV and a Projector to drool over:

I thought there was a "Your other interests" thread, but I'm tired and can't seem to find it.

So, I'm going to be really narcissistic and post this here:
Most of my masks, and the set of goalie gear I was wearing when I got to skate around the rink carrying the Stanley Cup over my head.

That is pretty cool Mike!! Those are some bada$$ masks. My friends here would be hugely jealous of your hockey collection. They are some hockey junkies.

Thanks Oak and Josh!

I really like designing layouts for masks. Each of my masks were designed by me and that's why I've held onto them all.
