I just bought some enamel paint for a Montefrio project and the instructions say to bake the paint at 350 for 30mins. I'm not sure if the Monterfrio is Acetate or O-matter but in any case, do you think the frame can withstand the heat or shoud I just air dry the paint and not risk it?

I think it's acetate. But I have no idea what would happen if you bake it. Well, I have one and I'm sure you do the same.

place them under a heat lamp (for plants, pets, foods)...it will help, or get lacquer paint...

Hmm, I have not this heat lamp you speak of. I may just do 250 for 45min and keep a close eye on them.

go to wally world aka. wal mart, grab a 75w or 100w red heat lamp, and you will be set. It will focus the heat where it needs to be without over doing it.

O Matter has a very high heat resistance, but Acetate is advertised as being heat adjustable, so I wouldn't trust it as much.

I would be super careful of the lenses. I'm sure you'll take them out. You could very well ruin them either way, but hey better to do it with a pair of montefreak-o's than anything else. ;)

I would see if someone here has a broken frame or random earstem to test it on at full recommended temp. to see what the result is

yeah you're probably right Tick. Better yet, I should just forget the enemal and go to a hobby shop to by some Testors model pant and just clear coat it.

So its all done. Turned out great if I do say so myself. I am having a problem getting on of the screws back in for some reason. I have no idea why it wont line up and I checked the thread and hole for blockage...nadda. Any ideas???

I finally got it....two hours later! Yeah I could for sure. Maybe Hijinx or Eyepatch. They would certainly be easier with no screws!

bill, i am not a fan of paintjobs on oakleys, because the are gonna look like fakes for most of the time, but these are actually pretty cool !

I'm with ya on that Fred. Prolly just do one more Polished Black one at some point to compliment it...Most likely when the Hijinx hits OCE.

They were done just as it sounds, Darren. Just flicked an overloaded paint brush and let fate decide where the paint ended up.

Thanks again guys for the compliments.

I finally got it....two hours later!
I had a lot of problems swapping my two Square O Frios. Like the hole in the stem and the frame didn't line up on the Olive pair created a slightly kniked screw and arms that are squeaky opening. The black pair and when I tested on an older Frio, I had no problems.

Yeah thats what happened with me Phil. The Tortoise ones went in fine, but one of the Black one's screw has about half of the screw head in length sticking out and it wont go in no matter how many times i try and line it up. The White ones ended up fine as far as the screws go, but they are too tight now and squeak sometimes when opening. I'm just thankful Oakley decided to go with a screw head that will take a beating. If not, I would've destroyed it very early on.
