Frame: Polished White
Lens: Ice

After finally having the opportunity to see the Split Jacket in person and try them on, I was a bit disappointed. Although they fit well (perhaps a tiny bit loose), provided good coverage, and incorporated the "Switchlock" mechanism for easy lens replacement, they appeared to be too similar to the Jawbone. In fact, when I first saw them in the case I couldn't tell they were Split Jackets at all (thought they were Jawbones).

A great pair of shades overall, but not much different from their predecessor, unfortunately. Oakley really needs to address the SIZE of their lenses and release some similar glasses (with the Switchlock feature). Perhaps if these were a bit smaller...

Lens: oo black iridium polarized vented
Wonderful pair of shades.I use them for cycling and everyday use, must say they are very comfortable. these lenses are awesome for sunny condition, cut the glare dead in its track. These lenses some how make things look better by giving contrast to things. Never fog up due to vents!! Love the excellent split jacket.

Frame: Black with Silver Ghost Text
Lens: Clear Black Iridium Photochromic

After opening the box for these glasses the first noticeable difference between the Photochromic Split Jackets and others was that only one set of lenses was present. A bit disappointing to say the least.

Trying the glasses on and taking them for a "test run" in direct sunlight yielded more disappointing results: although the lenses seemed to get "darker" from the perspective of others looking from the outside, they appeared to offer almost no protection whatsoever from the intensity of the sun's rays. Unbelievable. Given the high pricepoint of the standard (and polarized) Split Jackets I expected much, much more from an even more expensive pair. Unfortunately, I was let down twice - BIG time.

The frame itself bears the interesting mark of Ghost Text, but that alone does little to justify the high pricepoint and lack of functionality. It's quite apparent why the Photochromic line doesn't do well for Oakley. Most will probably be satisfied with any of the other Split Jackets, but not so much with this pair.

Frame: Polished Black
Lens: OO Blue Iridium Polarized

Just got these today, similar to the jawbone. They fit well on my face, not too tight, not too loose. They hug comfortably as well. The lens is odd, never heard of this new OO Blue Iridium, not on Oakley’s site with the rest of the OO line. The lens is awesome, good color contrast. Got a mystery lens with this order, does not say anywhere what the second lens is, maybe grey? Nice package, excellent frame and lens.

Frame: Matte Black
Lens: BI, Ice, Fire, G40

I really like the design and fit of this frame. They are light weight and comfortable the way they sit on my face. I really like the idea of the switchlock technology in this frame. I wish they would have released more colorways unfortunately.

Frame: Infra red
Lens: Vr28 BI Polarized

When I first opened the box and took them out, I thought, "They sent me Jawbones!" The similarity was so striking, I pulled out some Jawbone lenses and compared to the SpJ. They are identical in width, and the J is 2mm taller. That's it. This is not a Jacket for the faces that wear Half Jackets. It's for the faces that wear Straight Jackets. The good news is since the Jawbone vented lens style is better looking, I can shave them down to fit the SpJ with minimal work.

The Pros: The switchlock is a superior lens retention method to any previous Oakley design. It is easy and secure. The nosepads are held on far more securely than the stretch-on type of past Jackets, so they won't be falling off when you put your glasses on your ball cap. The earsocks continue the latest trend of being low profile. And finally, the SpJ has break-away earstems for added durability. Hey athletes and butter fingers of all ages, good news - this is the most durable Jacket design ever released.

The Cons: SpJ has identity issues. The lens and orbital sizes are not much smaller than the Jawbone. Try on before you buy. My medium sized head that loves Flak Jackets finds the earstems to grip more loosely than the Flaks. Combined with the heavier front half, the glasses feel less secure on the head. Compared to the Radar's vise-like clamp, I am wondering how O determines this parameter, given that they are both sport models. So if they are for smaller heads than the Jaw., why the looser fit?

I give the design a 5, the fit and proportions a 3, for an overall 4 star rating.

At Last! A jawbone for the rest of us! The smaller size fits so much better than the oversized Jawbones. These are small enough to wear around town and for sport applications. The quick change lens system is just as convenient as the Jawbone. Having the Asian fit option is nice. These are super light. Just waiting for a strap kit to become available to the general public (they're available in SI applications).

Frame: Dark Gray/Silver
Lens: +Red polarized

An Oakley employee broke into my house and measured my head while I slept in order to create the most perfect fit of any sunglass I have ever tried on. These things fit my med/large round cranium like a glove. They are incredibly comfortable and take Oakley's 3 point fit to the next level of comfort. They are secure, but do not squeeze.

After the initial elation at the perfect fit, I began to notice the details. First these incorporate a small hole in the end of the earstem for a chord. Next, when I slide them on the lenses do not bend. They stay in the exact optical alignment. The styling is like the jawbone only not ridiculously huge, while still providing great coverage. The styling is also very cleaned up. I could keep writing, but you'll just have to see for yourself. Now the only problem is which color I snag next?

If I could give a 6 I would. These do exactley what they are supposed to do. Oakley has done it again.

Frame: Dark Grey/silver
Lens: Polarized red

Just got a pair off split jackets - to be honest I am disappointed. I have owned a pair of straight jackets for the last 4 years and they have been brilliant - fit prefectly. The S jackets do not fit well - they generally feel loose, especially if placed on top off the head - feel that they could fall off. They are simply not worth the money.

Save some money and buy straight jackets instead.
