So my ruby clear Monster Dogs have safely made it to Poland. But now the customs office are being difficult: they want a certificate of origin proving where the glasses are from. I've tried pointing out that the glasses are stamped "Made in the USA" but they say that proves nothing and that the glasses could be a Chinese copy. I've pointed out that goods made in USA and made in China have exactly the same tax rate on them but they're still being difficult. Anybody know who I could contact to get a certificate of origin from?

If they were a Chinese copy, wouldn't that leave you with less customs to pay. It can only help them by assuming it's from the USA

Foolish foreigner! The Chinese copy could actually be more valuable than the USA made original and thus I may be defrauding the customs office! Or the glasses may actually be a very cunning disguise for a nuclear reactor I have purchased from North Korea and am going to sell to the Iranian government!

Harry, is it the same when coming from another EU country? If not, it might be an idea to ship via a fellow member. Shipping costs would go up, but at least your items would arrive.

This one is particularly complex because I'm importing the glasses as specific for use with a computer screen so that I can claim the import tax back (because I need to work with a computer screen for my job). This means it has to go direct to Poland because otherwise I won't be able to get the (40%) import tax back.

Know your problem, or exactly Ijon_Tichy got the same problems with German Custom Duty office...Iam German too, but not struggling with this kind of office. Not sure why, but between the office of Julien and mine are placed worlds!!! and there are only 60miles between them.

You only could talk to them, or order more oakleys, so they will know why you visit them. This is working for Julien and me.

No idea which possibilies there would be to proove the authenticity

Frankie said it. I had so much trouble with the damn officials. I brought them pics of my vitrines to show them THAT I'M A COLLECTOR AND THAT I WOULDN'T BUY FAKES (I also allready brought parts of my fam with me.... to "impress" them... ;) ). At the end they accept that the stuff is real, I told them that the lenses can be easily pop out without damage and the stems too and whatever to show them that they are real ("fake", "asia" glasses would go straight to the office dumb there, that's the problem..). +W ho would fake ruby clear lenses, there's no wide market for them. Just some ideas you could bring on ;). But the collectionpics are the main "event" - then they should realize that you know what you buy and that you wouldn't pay for a fake. + if you would try to sell fakes, you wouldn't order a single pair.

Good luck! Man how I hate these guys.... instead of doing important things (company imports, etc.) they just try to push usual customers to a heart attack or a nervous breakdown...
