I'm a serial entrepreneur. I own:
1) A real estate brokerage/appraisal firm
2) An asset management/brokerage firm
3) A 4x4 centric mechanic shop complete with a road/off-road rally team
4) An office supply company
5) An intermediate care facility for the mentally retarded

Let's just say that I get bored easily :)

I don't really participate in day-to-day operations on any of the companies except for my real estate brokerage/appraisal firm.

I started the real estate brokerage/appraisal firm in college 4 years ago. I ended up with a fair amount of rental homes that weren't producing income so I started the ICF/MR facility with the help of a good family friend to get them cash flowing.

2 years ago when I had the ICF/MR facility going and a really good administrator working for me, I started the asset management/brokerage firm. I wanted to expand my services to my current real estate clientele and that was the easiest way to do it. My father actually came to work for me and took over this company last year.

Around the same time, my brother and I started the 4x4 centric mechanic shop. He had just lost his job. 4x4-ing has always been a hobby of mine and it was something that he has always wanted to do so I fronted the cash to start the business. I pretty much just watch the bottom line and have my car worked on for free :)

The office supply store I actually purchased from my uncle when he decided to retire in November after his second heart attack. He sold it to me for dirt cheap and his staff is really wonderful, so it pretty much runs itself.

I probably work about 40-50 hours a week working at the RE business (that includes the 4-5 hours I spend each week on here) and then another 20-30 hours a week making sure that my tiny little entrepreneurial empire stays afloat.

lol...being an entrepreneur is so something that anyone can do. You just need an idea and the drive to do it :)

I just never wanted to work for other people with a set 9-5 schedule. I'm not good at taking orders or getting along with others.

I might have mentioned this before... I beat my head against a wall and push a wet rope up a hill...
