My brother just recently went to Japan for a week and checked out the Japanese O Store. It looks pretty cool. Here's his description and some pix:

oh man, at the Ostore was an ichiro juliet, with an autographed card, and it was number 51 made!! And Ichiro is so huge in Japan, actually he broke a baseball record when I was in Japan.

And about Oakley being worn in Japan, they know their stuff, I only saw collectors stuff and the nicest of Oakley product on people. like ruby julets, other juliets, bags, shirts, hats. and not the cheap ones.

Nice, interesting to see that they transformed the 'O' symbol in the sign to look like a baseball :).

Speaking of which, does anyone have any info as to when the O-store in Seattle is gonna open? (Probably my best chance of ever going into one, since there are currently no stores anywhere near Vancouver :( )

Actually, I'm not sure that they did modify the logo to be more baseball-like... isn't that the standard "thumbprint" version of the Oakley logo?

yeah but i noticed the baseball look too... maybe because it's bigger

and maybe that was the idea in the first place, that logo was on old half jackets (mine) and m-frames, right?

Ob's right, that's the standard Thumbprint. There's so many variations that Oakley has come up with not all of them are the same, like the Key chain is longer and the insides a lot squarer as with the Half Jacket.

The O store in Japan was truely a wonderful experience. I met a girl in Japan that showed me how to get there and we have been in contact ever since. When I first got to the store I was surprise that the outside was not as ornate as I had expected. Just the sign you can see above. as I walked in there was a small room with a sufboard, three displays and a custom Oakley mountain bike.

The store part was further in the building, but the store consisted of several conference rooms with displays everywhere. The store mainly sold sunglasses, watches, and women's apparel. There were only 2 shoes available and 3 racks of men's clothing. There were also some bags but not the complete collection.

I ended up getting mostly accessories like wristbands, the claw caribeeaner, head wrap, socks, some clothing etc..

It was an awesome time in there, I think I was in there for 1.5 hours making a "to buy" pile.

I knew it! Did you find Chris that the Oakley stuff in Japan was comparable to the stuff in the states. I'm meaning pricewise, was it more expensive? or the same.. etc. I'm a bit hopeless with conversion rates but how much would a pair of Ichiro Juilets set you back over there?

I really want to go to Japan some day!

Ruby Juliets are around $460 over there according to some friends.

Everything was much more expensive there. Long Sleeve T's and hats which are normally in the $20 range were $30. The rest followed suit I think.
