Saw these for the first time at Sunglass hut the other day. I had to check them out. First impressions: Sitting on the display these are definitely attention grabbing. The carbon fiber really pops and draws you to them. Though it has never been my favorite material for sunglasses the aluminum actually looks well done and I'm reasonably convinced that they will hold up to abuse. The odd thing about these is the way that the earstems and aluminum section don't quite touch. There is a gap of maybe 2 mm in-between which is probably necessary given the stiff nature of carbon fiber. This allows the frame to flex on your face via a pair of twin shocks made of titanium. The nose has a hard plastic (or possibly o-matter) bomb that is matte finished so as to minimize sliding on your face.

As you can see this seems to be the new MO for higher end Oakleys these days, think C-6 without the exorbitant and quite frankly undeserving price. The Lites do much of the same without the unjustifiably high price point, but also with a lot less flare.

Fit- The frames are similar to the Jupiter fit, which for me is unfortunate as the jupiters fit is not great for me touching my face along the brow line, cheek and not sitting properly on my nose unless I slide them down a bit in which case they are precariously coupled to my face. The Lites are similar, but seem to do better due to the tighter fit.

Overall I have mixed feelings about this new multiple material look. On the one hand the geek in me says "carbon fiber, aluminum, AND titanium all with Oakley optics???? Will you be My new girlfriend?" but the chic in me thinks "Really, another derivative frogskin frame? Haven't these been done enough? These are very very busy looking shades and that makes them look sort of cheap" Part of the latter feelings are because Oakley over the years has done no favors for themselves by releasing frames with 'true carbon fiber' which is code for 'not real carbon fiber in the least bit'. So ironically when I look at carbon fiber frames my brain automatically says FAKE!

Any way fit is not going to work for a lot of people, style is a little tired, but I have to commend Oakley for trying to find the next it thing after the discontinuation of x-metal. While simultaneously feeling like this is a not so minor step down from x-metal.

Very well made glasses. The design and craftmanship and the materials are all top notch. Even on the black framf you can clearly see that it is real carbon fiber. The Titanium twin beta shock hinge works great and looks strong. My only gripe with these glasses is that they are too small. Not so much in the proportions but more-so the width. These things squeeze me so tight and i know they will never strech.
