Outside of their X-Metal line, you'd be hard pressed to find any frame that defines Oakley more than the Scars. The orbitals are artfully shaped while providing good coverage. The earstems have an aggressive batwing look and despite looking like they could slice your ears off, they're quite comfortable. The metal lugs aren't really functional but add a touch of brightwork that really stand out on the darker frames.

And despite the lenses being on the smaller side, they fit my big head quite well, since the earstem lugs are molded so that they're almost like Hammer stems. Their shape makes them look good on me but I've seen other wear these so they're almost a one-size-fits-all frame. The only nitpick is that they close with the Icon sticking out a little bit so if you like to hang your Oakleys on your shirt when you're indoors, they hang a little awkwardly. A very minor point.

It's too bad they're out of production.

Lens: G30

Yet another Oakley that I wasn't sure I liked at first, but grew on me after the 3rd or 4th try. Since they are discontinued, I figured I should get a pair before they all disappear. The styling of these glasses is superb. I like the scalloped bat-wing look. The tall earstems are very unique and provide a fairly confortable grip even though they do not have Unobtainium. The X-Metal earstem lugs with integrated icons are cool.

The hinges are in a strange location behind the icon, which makes them look neat even when folded. However, the frames are quite wide and deep when folded, so as Dann said, you need an X-Metal case or Medium Soft Vault for these.

I would have given these a 5, but I figured with the size of the frame (fairly tall lenses), the nosebombs could have been bigger than just little slivers of Unobtainium. Better than nothing, though.

FMJ+ is a pretty ho-hum satin silver, but I really got this pair for the G30 lenses. The pinkinsh tint is not too dark and great for varying light. Like LEX said, Scars were available in some of the nicest color combinations Oakley ever tried.

the desgine of these glasses is great. they have diffrent line that makup the arms and the orbital but they are not so diffrent that they look strange.

the shape of the orbitals is diffrent then most and i takes a little to get use to. the lower out sxide corner of the orbitals angle up more then usuall and so light nad movement can be seen under this when you are wearing them. it is not enought to cause problems as per say but you do find your self distracted for the first little while untill you are use to it.

the frame color is cool (FMJ red) but it seams to be a little more sensitive to scraching and once it is scrached there is a silver tint to the area.

the arms are good with the diffrent shape and look. but i have found that having a big head and because the glasses are older and don't have the new flexabilty like the new tecnology the arms tend to press tightly to the side of my head and after i while i have to take them off.

all in all i still love the glasses and if and enjoy whering them.

First pair, so review may be a bit skewed coming from non-Oakleys.
I like them :) There are a few impracticalities, but there is a lot to like. I don't like the thick bottom edge. I didn't mind at first, but when driving, it blocks your over-the-shoulder blind-spot check in a big way. I think they sit a little high for me as well, but I'm not sure on that yet. The nosebombs feel a bit like they're ready to fall off.

What to like? Lots. The fit is tight, the metal hinge section is nice & gives me confidence it will not fall apart. I love the style with the shape of the orbital and the swoop of the earstems. They sit forward enough so that they're secure on my nose, but my lashes don't touch.

I'm still not sure about the lens. They seem middle of the line for light, providing decent protection in full sun, and are a bit hindering indoors. Could be me though.

An awesome set to start off a collection (yes I wear them).

These are awesome glasses. They fit well, have rubber nosebombs, so they don't slide around, and they're unique enough to attract a lot of attention. The lenses are a little oddly shaped, like a cross between a Minute and a Topcoat. They're worth having if you can find them, if only to display.
